City Resources

The links below provide information on DC-led incentive programs that are available to residents and businesses in DC. FOKP has no connection to any of the below programs but many FOKP members have taken advantage of some of these programs and can talk to you about them at a Thursday meeting. Do you know of a resource that could be of use to the community, please email us to bring it to our attention!

  • DC 311 Portal – Submit requests and interact with DC government through a tracked system.
  • Fire alarm information –  Did you know by calling 311 (or submitting an online request), DC will send EMS personnel to your house to check your fire alarm? They will also repair, replace, or install fire alarms as necessary. Check to make sure that you and your neighbor’s houses having working fire alarms!
  • Security Camera Rebate Program  – for residents, businesses, nonprofits, and religious institutions to purchase and install security camera systems on their property and register them with the Metropolitan Police Department. The program provides a rebate of up to $200 per camera, with a maximum rebate of up to $500 per residential address.
  • Riversmart Homes – this program offers a range of landscape enhancements with the goal of reducing stormwater runoff. Kingman Park is located in the Anacostia Rivershed. The Riversmart Homes program provides rain barrels, shade tree planting, rain gardens, bayscaping and pervious pavers.
  • Helping Hands community Clean up – if you would like to organize a neighborhood pick up day, let us know! FOKP will work with you to organize a trash pick up in Kingman Park. We have cleanups scheduled the first Saturday of every month.
  • Solar Incentives – The Renewable Portfolio Standard Expansion Amendment Act of 2016 established the District’s Solar for All Program (Solar for All). Solar for All’s specific targets are to provide the benefits of solar electricity to 100,000 low-income households, and to reduce their energy bills by 50% by 2032.
  • Appliance Rebates – The DC Sustainable Energy Utility is a DC government affiliated program that offers $25 rebates on qualifying dehumidifiers and $50–$150 rebates on select Energy Star appliances. This offer was good through December 31, 2018. It is unclear if the rebate will continue.
  • Lead Pipe Replacement Program – Each year, DC Water replaces lead service pipes in conjunction with other construction projects and will offer to coordinate the replacement of the water service pipe on private property at the owner’s expense. Property owners are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to replace the portion of a lead pipe on their private property.
