RFK Parking Garage Designs Unveiled
The Commanders released the designs for the parking structures. The Garage in the Kingman Park District, G2, is proposed to have 3,600 parking spaces, towering 9 stories (8 levels of parking, plus a “solar canopy”).
The National Capitol Planning Commission will be having a hearing on these plans on Thursday, October 1st at 1pm. This is an important hearing to have a large community showing. You may submit written testimony or if you have the ability to testify in person, register before the deadline at noon on September 23rd.
Petition Against New Liquor Store on Benning Road
ABCA received an application for a liquor store at 2409 Benning Rd NE (formerly Rosati’s Pizza) and there has been strong opposition from the community.
To address these concerns, representatives from Kingman Park Wine & Spirits will be in attendance at the meeting on Thursday.
There are multiple ways to formally oppose this new liquor store:
Vote (in-person or online) on an FOKP resolution to oppose the liquor store.
Sign up by Oct. 5 to testify at the ABCA hearing on Oct. 26.
Sign the community petition to oppose this new liquor store. Any DC resident can sign so feel free to share!
Board Member Nominations
FOKP is now accepting nominations for all positions on the FOKP Board of Directors, as well as 3 delegate positions to the DC Federation of Civic Associations! Those elected will serve a two year term starting in January.
