Kingman Park and the surrounding community is vibrant and active in a number of initiatives designed to serve and strengthen our community. In addition to Friends of Kingman Park Civic Association, the following organizations are also active in our community. Please let us know if we forgot any organizations and we will add them.

- Kingman Park- Rosedale Community Garden – Located between 20th and 21st street and D and E Street, the Kingman Park-Rosedale Community Garden (“KPR Garden”) was founded in the Spring of 2005 to provide Kingman Park and Rosedale residents with a space for growing food and connecting with neighbors. Though neighbors had gardened there through at least the 1990’s, the property had become overgrown with weeds and filled with garbage such as abandoned cars and liquor bottles for years. Today it is filled with produce, flowers, and community. For more information or to join, please email [email protected]. To inquire about renting a plot, contact [email protected].
- Kingman Park – Rosedale Compost Co-OP – Our neighborhood is lucky to have a large community compost at the Kingman Park-Rosedale Garden. It is free to join the co-op and after participating in a training, you can fully participate in the co-op by adding your appropriate kitchen scraps and yard clippings to the bins. Membership in the Co-Op also asks for participation in compost work days to turn the bins. To join, please email FOKP and we will connect you via email to the coordinator, Sam.
- Friends of Kingman and Heritage Islands – advocates for the health, protection, and accessibility of Kingman and Heritage Islands – two of Washington, D.C.’s largest and most treasured green spaces. Contact FOKHI at [email protected], or @KingmanFriends on Twitter
